Thomas Haas - Vancouver, BC
During my recent visit to Vancouver, I found a great deal on a hotel room in North Vancouver. Next step - what's for breakfast the next morning? So I did a quick search for a bakery and discovered Thomas Haas. It's located in an unexpected location, near the water on a dead end street, across from a school. They have pastries, and cakes, and chocolates and everything looks so decadent and fabulous. But then I had the most terrible time deciding what to order, everything looked so fabulous. The croissants were beautiful and very distinct layers, but in the end, I decided on the almond croissant, which was flaky and crispy and almondy and really great.
And the good news? We got to go back the next morning.
So I got to try the brioche with apricot and the pear tart. Which were equally beautiful and enjoyable.
