Ramen Danbo - Vancouver, BC
There's a corner in downtown Vancouver that has maybe about 5 ramen shops or maybe more within a two block radius. It's a little overwhelming, I would try them all if I had the time, but we were on our way to that corner for dinner and happened to walk by Ramen Danbo a couple blocks before that. We noticed the line line, and we decided to get in the line and see if it was worth it.
Ramen Danbo is a Fukuoka style ramen that originates from Southern Japan. There are two shops in Vancouver and it has recently expanded to Seattle.
The line moved pretty quickly and after not too long, we were inside. Once you decide between the classic, shio, or miso, then you customize your bowl based on noodle type, thickness, broth thickness, amount of lard, and spicyness. I chose classic thin noodles, and standard on everything else, since I didn't know any better. It comes with green onions and pork, but if you want an egg or nori that needs to be added on.
This was an excellent bowl of ramen, definitely worth the wait. The broth was rich and the noodles were chewy and that's all I really need in a bowl of ramen.
