Turner's Seafood - Salem, MA
If you happen to be in Salem, MA visiting the Peabody Essex Museum or Salem Maritime NHS, then have lunch at Turner's Seafood. It's just a couple blocks from the museum and the NHS visitor's center.
Every New England seafood restaurant has a version of New England clam chowder, some are better than others and some are great. Turner's Seafood's version was good, but not great. It was not overly thick, but had good flavor and enough clams to know that there were clams in there.
The Asian Nachos were a great discovery. Served as perfect little bites, with seared tuna on a fried wonton, topped with an asian slaw and wasabi aioli. It was very tasty.
I discovered whole fried clams a couple years ago at Woodman's of Essex and they are fabulous (and if you happen to be in Essex, MA, I highly recommend that you go). So I was excited to see whole clams on the menu. The portion of clams was generous and came with onion rings and coleslaw. I thought the breading on the clams was good, light and crisp, and it worked well on both the clams and the onion rings.
