Wine Tasting at Sheldrake Point - Ovid, NY

The Cayuga Lake Wine trail follows the entire perimeter of the lake, it’s a scenic trip all the way around, but there are many more wineries on the Western side of Cayuga Lake than on the Eastern shore.

A few wineries have a unique option for visiting - by boat. You can do it yourself, if you have your own boat or take an organized tour. Having grown up in the area, I’ve watched Finger Lakes Wineries flourish and I’ve enjoyed the results, but visiting by boat was a first for me.

Sheldrake Point Winery makes a boat drop in easy, there is a dock right in front of the winery and it’s a short walk up the beach and across the road over to the tasting room.
