Coquine for lunch
Coquine is definitely one of the best restaurants in town, and I had an excellent and memorable dinner there a couple years ago when my uncle was in town. I've been wanting to go back for awhile, so I took the opportunity to have lunch there recently on a pleasant Friday in June.
They were offering a 3 course lunch, which is probably more than I really needed for lunch, but it was not an excessive amount of food. And so I ordered the 3 courses, since it made the decision easier.
First course, carrot and garlic soup. The soup had a truly brilliant orange color and was quite beautiful and really well balanced also. It wasn't too carroty, which is what happens when I make carrot soup for myself.
Second course, ditalini with peas and morels. A nice early summer pasta.
The Coquine chocolate chip cookie with brown butter and smoked almonds is locally famous, so I was excited to try it. It was a good cookie, but I don't think it was the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever had.
