Frasca Food & Wine - Boulder, CO
Well, I love lists, and so in my mission to seek out great food and dining experiences wherever I go, I noticed Frasca Food and Wine on Eater's National 38 Best Restaurants in America list. And when we happened to be in Boulder for the night and there were reservations available, I jumped at the opportunity to go for dinner.
Just a couple blocks from the main downtown area, it's easy to find. There is a strong emphasis on wine, with a huge wine list, and there was a featured guest sommelier who had curated the pairings for the evening. The service was excellent and everyone was very genuine and enthusiastic.
Monday nights are a bit simpler than the other nights, with a four course set tasting menu. There are a couple optional add-ons, if that's not enough. The night we were there, there was charcuterie, cheese and the Stuzzichino which was these blini with roe and creme fraiche.
The first course, was turnips, with turnip green puree, mushrooms, and pecorino. It probably wouldn't occur to me to make turnip green puree, but why not puree the greens, because it was pretty tasty. And I think I need to give it a try sometime.
Delicate and light, the pastas course was cheese tortellini with peas, mint, and radish.
Ribeye with salsify, potatoes, and spring onion.
The final course, was a profiterole with raspberries and chocolate. It was certainly a fine way to end the meal, but definitely not the strongest course of the evening.
