Bokie Dokie and Rachel's Ginger Beer
There's been a proliferation of fried chicken sandwiches in Portland lately, and Boke Dokie is one of them. It's an off-shoot of Boke Bowl that started as a food cart and has expanded to three locations. At the Hawthorne location, the bonus is Rachel's Ginger Beer is right next door and it's easy to get a drink after ordering your sandwich.
I'm not that familiar with Ginger Beer, but Rachel's Ginger Beer has many options to choose from. There's regular ginger beer and then about 8-10+ flavored options, which you can get as a single serving or a growler, and if that's not enough for you, there are cocktails and floats. I really wasn't sure where to start, but after tasting a couple different samples, I settled on Passionfruit x vanilla.
And then my sandwich was ready, which I enjoyed quite a lot. It was a good size and the bread was soft, the chicken was tender and nicely fried and the sauce was flavorful.
Update: Bokie Doke and Rachel’s Ginger Beer have closed in Portland.
