Ivan Ramen Slurp Shop and Ample Hills Creamery - NYC
If you can't tell, I really love ramen. I have a growing list of restaurants to visit in NYC and Ivan Ramen is one of them. Conveniently, Ivan Ramen Slurp Shop is located inside Gotham West Market not far from Times Square on 11th Ave. between W. 144th and 145th Streets. When I was looking for dining options before Waitress, I thought this would work well, since it's not too far and it is open all day, so we could go when we were ready.
I ordered the signature ramen, Toyko Shio and I added a soft egg. This was perfect for the end of a rainy day. The broth was flavorful, the noodles were nice and chewy and the pork belly was thick and tasty. And it wasn't too big, so it wasn't at all difficult to eat the whole bowl.
And then, it wasn't my original plan, but under the bad influence of my Mom, we had ice cream at Ample HIlls Creamery. I'm really glad we did, it was excellent. They had some really interesting flavors and I think we tasted nearly all of them, the server was very patient with us. I settled on Salted Crack Caramel, really dark caramelly flavor and pretty addictive as it suggests and Snap Mallow Pop which was rice krispie treat-like, made with marshmallow and although it didn't have a lot of flavor, it had the most amazing creamy texture and it complemented the Salted Crack Caramel very nicely.
