Welcome!

These are my adventures with food and travel.  Enjoy!

Muscadine

Muscadine

Muscadine's fried chicken is so popular, that they have a sign on the front door proclaiming, if you're lucky, "we have fried chicken!".  I was fortunate the day I went and was able to sample the chicken.  Muscadine is a brunch spot in NE Portland, that opened in November 2014.  I've had this one on my short list for some time and finally got a chance the other day.  It was a Monday, so it was relatively quiet and the fried chicken was available.  I'm guessing the story would be very different on the weekend, when the brunching hoards are out and about.

I ordered the meat and three, figuring that it would give me an opportunity to try several of the sides, along with the chicken and a biscuit.  I got grits, collards, and fried green tomatoes, which were a special for that day.  Portion size was pretty huge, I took enough home for lunch the next day.  The chicken was bone-in dark meat, very tender, with a crispy coating.  It was pretty enjoyable, probably some of the best I've had around Portland.  The biscuit was fabulously flaky and tender.  The sides were yummy, and overall the meal was very enjoyable.

***Muscadine closed at the end of December 2017***
