My favorite places in the world - Icelandic Beaches
When I think of some of the most beautiful places that I've seen in the world, two beaches in Iceland come to mind. I was there in August 2009, for four days, exploring Reykjavik and the south coast. We drove all the way to Jökulsárlón Iceberg Lagoon and then drove across the road to the beach, without realizing that we would find a black sand beach covered in icebergs. It was beautiful and surreal. My aunt and her family visited there this summer and said that she did not find the same amount of ice on the beach, so I suppose it doesn't always look like this, but we were thrilled to come across it.
Later that same day, on the return trip to Skogar, we stopped in Vik for dinner and walked out to the beach afterward. The pounding waves on the black sand beach were just stunning, along with the cairns scattered across the beach, and the offshore sea stacks.
Hello, World!
