Fort Bowie NHS

Fort Bowie NHS is not conveniently located, but if you find yourself ins the southeast corner of Arizona, it’s a good way to spend a few hours and get in a hike.

The fort is a 1.5 mile hike away from the parking lot. Along the way, there are beautiful desert vistas along with some historical stops.

And some ruins of structures from during the fort days.

There’s also a spring, which was one of the main reasons the area was inhabited.

The visitor’s center is also a small museum, with a pleasant porch to relax on before heading back on the trail.
