Heim Bakery
The best word to describe Heim Bakery, in my opinion, is pleasant. Pleasant is also one of my favorite words, for breakfast restaurants. It’s far enough away from the center of Portland, just down the road from the Roseway Theater on Sandy Blvd., that it’s not mobbed for breakfast on the weekend, so it’s a great no line brunch option.
The restaurant looks and feels a bit like a living room, with a couch, lounge chairs and a variety of tables to sit at.
The menu has a good variety from breakfast burrito to sourdough waffles to granola. I’ve discovered that I tend to go for the breakfast sandwich more often than not, and that’s what I did.
It’s a seasonal breakfast sandwich on hearty wheat bread, and comes with a generous salad. The day I was there it was served with ham, chevre, mizuna, and asparagus.
