Where to eat in Grand Rapids, MI
There’s lots of delicious food options in Grand Rapids.
A great place for breakfast or coffee and pastries, is Field and Fire Cafe. I had a tasty kouign amann, chai, and biscuit sandwich with Michigan bacon and a pretty salad on the side.
Another great options for breakfast or lunch is The Littlebird, which also serves dinner. The menu had some standard items, along with unusual breakfast offerings, like the Eggs in Purgatory that I had the day I visited.
The downtown public market is essentially a food hall, with a just a few places to actually buy ingredients to cook with.
Mostly it’s a big restaurant, with a number of options - chicken, a meat counter for sandwiches, sushi, juice bar, tacos, ice cream… Something for just about everyone.
A couple great choices for dinner in the downtown area are San Chez A Tapas Bistro or The B.O.B. There are also tons of breweries.
Or get out of town and take a drive to a lake. About 30 minutes northeast of GR is Bostwick Lake and The Bostwick Lake Inn. It’s an excellent place, a bit off the beaten path, to sit outside and eat or drink by the lake.
The menu had lots of choices, but there were a couple local/regional favorites like walleye and perch. Which is what I enjoyed the evening I was there.
