Eight Days in Scotland - Day 4 Tobermory, Glenfinnan, and Arisaig
A lazy morning in Tobermory, gave us a chance to take a tour of the Tobermory distillery. The distillery is not in operation right now while they are replacing some of their equipment, but that meant that I could take pictures, which was a bonus.
After a yummy lunch at Tobermory bakery, we took the ferry from Tobermory to Kilchoan, a fairly remote area south of Mallaig. Eventually we rejoined the A830 and drove east to Glenfinnan.
The Glenfinnan Viaduct featured in the Harry Potter movies was a pretty popular place. The past couple days we had felt a bit off the beaten tourist path, but suddenly we had found it. The path is short and has some great views of the viaduct. You can also take a train ride from Fort William if you want to actually ride over the viaduct.
After our short walk, we headed to the Arisaig Hotel, which very pleasant. One thing I particularly enjoyed about our hotel and b&b stays in Scotland, were the always available tea and cookies. There was a small restaurant at the hotel, but we decided to walk down the street the Old Library Lodge for dinner.
There was just enough light for a walk on the beach after dinner, so we went to Camasdarach Beach for a short walk. It was really gorgeous, between the white sand, blue water, and dramatic sky.
