A day in Sedona, AZ
Well, really we started the day just a little southwest of Sedona at Tuzigoot NM. Despite my fairly extensive exploration of Arizona over the years, somehow I had never been to Tuzigoot. So that was of course, the obvious first stop on the way to Sedona.
Tuzigoot NM is the ruins of a pueblo on the top of a hill above the Verde River. There's a small museum at the visitor's center with some items from the excavations. Outside, you can walk around the ruin on a short paved path, all the way up to the very top, for great views of the walls and surrounding valley.
After that, we headed into Sedona and after a fair amount of debate, we decided on a hike at Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte. Sedona is covered in hiking trail and many of them have great views of the stunning red rocks.
And rather hungry, after a day of adventures, we headed to Elote Cafe for a fabulous dinner. The drinks - margaritas and mojitos for us - really hit the spot. They had some really fun and tasty appetizers like goat cheese balls, duck flautas and smoked chicken tamal. BUT, at times, the line forms early, up to an hour before on the weekends, so plan ahead!
