The Schooner Restaurant - Netarts, OR
After spending the night in Oceanside, OR and the morning on the beach and at the Cape Meares Lighthouse, we needed some lunch.
There are not a ton of lunch options right in the Oceanside area, but there is The Schooner Restaurant in Netarts, OR, just down the road. There is a nice view over the bay and a huge outdoor eating area that is protected by a tall plastic wall with heaters and also blankets available. And on that lovely February day, we definitely wanted to eat outside, even though it was a bit breezy.
It was obvious that The Schooner is partnering with local farms, there was a list of all the local purveyors that they work with on a chalkboard in the restaurant as well as having it listed on the menu. They of course had clam chowder and fish and chips, but also some other slightly different selections, like the Bay Salad with fried Netarts Bay oysters.
The bowl of clam chowder came with what appeared to be freshly baked bread and it was a massive serving. Also tasty.
I thought the fish and chips were really good too, the breading was very crisp and the cod tender with a house made tartar sauce.
