A Stanford Stroll
There were no palm trees where I went to college, Northeastern colleges are full of grassy quads, but Stanford is completely different. During a Labor Day weekend trip to the Bay area, I randomly selected a hotel in Palo Alto, so the next morning we took a walk around the Stanford Campus.
There is a visitor’s center with visitor parking conveniently located near the entrance to the campus.
It’s a short walk to the main quad past the clock tower, which you can go up in for a view.
The Main Quad is dominated by the Memorial Church, which is very intricately decorated.
The main quad is also brick-lined, not grassy. And it is surrounded by arcades.
The original destination that caught my eye was the Papua New Guinea Sculpture Garden.
It was a small woodsy garden full of carved wooden sculptures by Papua New Guinean artisans. Pretty cool and not your average park.
