Pizzeria Bianco - Phoenix
Many years ago, Pizzeria Bianco was my first wood fired oven pizza experience, before I even knew that it was something special. Back when there was only one location and you had to line up early or snag one of the few reservations available each evening. Now there's more than one location and you can even go for lunch. Which is what we did - no waiting at all!
After some debate, we selected the closer location at Town & Country, a typical Phoenix strip mall, and despite the fact it is in a strip mall, the restaurant and patio area are pretty pleasant. Although one downside of going for lunch, is that the antipasto appetizer is not available, but there's still lots of pizza!
After much debate about how many pizzas six people could eat, we settled on four of them - Margarita, Biancoverde (mozzarella, arugula), Wiseguy (onion, fennel sausage plus added extra roasted mushrooms), and Rosa (onion, rosemary, pistachio). I think it worked out pretty well, we ate them all... It really is good pizza, the crust is nicely charred and I think my favorite of the day was the Wiseguy and then the Margarita. But really, they were all good.
